World Refugee Day 2010 - Hamilton Activities

For World Refugee Day 2010, Refugee Services in Hamilton held ‘E.mer.gent,’ an exhibition of refugee and migrant youth art works, in partnership with Café Agora, Waikato Migrant Resource Center, and Waikato Refugee Forum.

Art workshops were held at Café Agora Saturday 29th May and Saturday 5th June in preparation for the exhibit, which sold $1300 worth of art with the money going directly to the artists!   Café Agora also raised $1500 for Refugee Services by donating $.50 from each cup of coffee sold during the month of June. They received an award from the Human Rights Commission for their work during World Refugee Week.
